It was born out of a partnership between Toyota and GM; the GM variant of the model was the Pontiac Vibe, part of the now-defunct Pontiac line.
The Toyota Matrix had a hatchback configuration, which meant drivers had extra space for gear or luggage, and still offered impressive power from the choice of two competitive engine options, producing up to 180 horsepower at the top of the lineup. The first generation of Toyota Matrix ran from 2003 to 2008, and the second generation from 2008 to 2013 or 2014.
