There are many reasons to consider a Toyota Certified Pre-Owned vehicle, like the kind we carry here at Heritage Toyota Owings Mills. They’re less costly than brand new models and come with the peace of mind afforded by extensive inspections. Learn how we inspect Toyota Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) models right here at our dealership today.

Multi-Point Inspection and Requirements

There are two tiers of Toyota CPO models, and each level has specific requirements in order to qualify. For the Silver Certified vehicles, there is an extensive 136-point inspection.

Gold Certified vehicles must pass an even more comprehensive 160-point inspection. Additionally, Gold Certified models must be six years old or newer and must have fewer than 85,000 miles in order to qualify for the program.

Exterior and Interior Condition

The inspection starts with a look at exterior condition. Our team makes sure there are no visible signs of dents or damage. Then we check the condition of the cabin, searching specifically for rips and tears to the fabric, as well as signs of excessive wear or fading.

Engine, Transmission, Steering, and Braking

We’ll also work hard to make sure the essential systems are running right. That means checking fluid levels for the oil, transmission, power steering, and braking systems, and testing out the transmission for smooth shifting. We also make sure that the vehicle drives in a straight line, and that the brake pads have at least 50% of their use remaining.
