If you've always been a fan of the Toyota Avalon, but have never owned a model, you’ll want to do something about that soon. This is because after almost three decades, this sedan is being discontinued, and the 2022 model will be its last. And while it hasn’t changed much since the last iteration, there are some notable differences.

Performance

?The Toyota Avalon comes with the same 301-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine that previous models have had. However, front-wheel drive is the only drivetrain; all-wheel drive is no longer an option. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard. The Toyota Avalon has excellent acceleration, and it can go from 0 to 60 mph in about six seconds.

Safety

If you have young children, the Toyota Avalon has a new feature you will appreciate. It’s a rear-seat reminder, so you will never have to worry about leaving precious cargo unattended. There are also quite a few other built-in safety components:

  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Blind spot monitoring
  • Lane keep assist
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Forward collision warning
  • LED automatic high-beam headlights
  • Rearview camera
  • Pedestrian detection
  • Lane departure warning
  • Adaptive cruise control

Technology

The 2022 Toyota Avalon is still one of the most tech-savvy sedans you will find. First of all, it comes with a user-friendly and quick-responding infotainment system with a nine-inch touchscreen. You will also get a number of features like five USB ports, Android Auto™, and Apple CarPlay®. Satellite radio, Amazon Alexa®, and an eight-speaker stereo are also standard. If you’re looking for more, you can get wireless device charging, a 14-speaker stereo, and a navigation system.
