At the start of 2014, we got word that CEO Akio Toyoda was thinking of "sprucing up" the Toyota lineup. While we figured this meant design, we could neither think of a way they could get better, nor could we guess how successful that would be. Now, with the unveiling of the 2015 Camry, we understand that a bit better.

The design of the Camry is decidedly more emotional. Not in the Romeo and Juliet, bursting into fountains of tears that one may drown in emotional, but emotional none-the-less.

What we mean by that is the look, especially the front end, is a bit more aggressive. The headlights have a more determined slant, and the grille is diminished a bit. Touched off with some nifty hood creases, it's quite a stylish update, indeed.

But why is Toyota doing it now? Well, according to automotive insiders, they believe that this update will help the Camry retain its spot as America's bestselling midsize sedan.  Some new challengers have showed up in the segment lately, and the effort is nothing more than a little assurance.

Of course, to our eyes, this new Toyota model is better than mere assurance.
