As you've likely gathered from our blog, there isn't a month that goes by where our favorite automaker isn't giving us something to get excited about. Heck, last month we were tipped off to the possibility that our lineup might be home to some sports cars in the future.
And now that we've finally caught wind of our October sales numbers, November has its work cut out for it.
Last month, Toyota sold 168,976 vehicles on a daily selling rate (DSR) basis. Not only was it a 4.8% increase over their sales numbers in October of 2012, but it was a big month for our individual models that helped us get there.
As far as our hybrid vehicles are concerned, their sales of nearly 23,800 units last month accounted for more than half of all hybrids sold on the entire market. Not to be outdone, the ever-popular Toyota Camry shipped almost 30,000 units over the course of October. And with everything that our customers had to deal with last month, accomplishments like these are occasions worth celebrating.
"Consumers showed resiliency in October with steady auto sales despite headwinds caused by the government shutdown," says Bill Fay, group vice president and general manager of Toyota. "The growth in the auto industry continues to play a leading role in the economic recovery, and Toyota is on track for a strong close to the year."1
With that said, feel free to learn more about what the future holds for our lineup with a visit to our dealership here in Owing Mills, MD, just down the way from Baltimore. Like we said, the excitement is warranted.
