Motor Trend magazine has some secret information about the next Toyota Prius model, and now R & H Toyota Scion is here to share those tidbits with you! The revamped Prius is expected to arrive in Spring 2015, and it should prove extremely popular, due to a new all-weather traction system named e-4WD, noticeably updated styling, and an incredible 60 mpg combined due to a significant weight loss.
The secret engineer explains the new e-4WD system, stating, "The rear wheels will be driven by a motor in what we call an e-4WD system. Targeting snowy areas, the rears will operate up to 37 mph. Above that speed, it becomes a purely front-wheel drive car."1 A drivetrain like this could seriously expand the vehicle's reach, as could a striking new look.
The new Toyota Prius is set to have a sleek, lower profile that will be much more aerodynamic. The car is set to use NiMH batteries and lithium ion batteries like the current model, because, as the engineer explains, "ā¦Our engineers have found that NiMH batteries actually manage power delivery better when it comes to intensive consumption and recharging of electricity."2
