Toyota has built a solid reputation for being an eco-friendly automaker. Its "green" models, like the Toyota Prius, have demonstrated to consumers for many years that the company is devoted to sustainability. One of the newest Toyota "green machines" is the TMG EV P002 race car, which was inspired by the brand's first hybrid racer- the Toyota TS030 HYBRID and operates using all-electric power. It follows the (also impressive) TMG EV P001 racer.

The TMG EV P002 racer competed alongside its predecessor at the iconic Pike's Peak International Hill Climb event in Colorado on July 8, 2012. Last year,Toyota set a new EV  lap record at the Nurburgring Nordscleife track with the street-legal TMG EV P001 race car. This car's powertrain is now fitted on a new chassis from Radical Sports to create a different look for the P0002. The TMG EV P0002 achieves up to 150 mph in Pike's Peak mode, and its limits certainly were tested at the event, which features a hillclimb to a 14-thousand-foot summit. TMG hopes this EV racer is the beginning on many more "green" models in the future.

A press release from the brand shows TMG's commitment to "green" racing vehicles. It states, "Electric powertrain technology in motorsport is still in its development phase but through projects like this one, TMG is laying the foundations for the future of high-performance and motorsport cars."1
