Japanese automaker Toyota has an impressive lineup of 2012 Toyota models this year, but it doesn't skimp on giving back to the community, either. Toyota USA recently joined forced with the Denby, MI branch of the Salvation Army to donate winter boots to over 150 women and children in the Detroit area as part of its Walk in My Boots community project.
A local Detroit DJ was on-hand to deliver the boots from the company, which were donated by Moosejaw, a Michigan-based outdoor retailer. Toyota also donated $10,000 to the Salvation Army to support shelter programs like the one at the Denby Center. This center offers families and female veterans shelter and transitional housing while they get back on their feet.
Monique Hudson and her two daughters were just a few of the recipients to receive the boots. Hudson remarks, "I decided to come here [to the shelter] to get the help that I need. I'm going to get up out of here soon."1 Hudson is currently getting help finding a home from the Salvation Army, and she is confident the new snow boots will make traveling to school more accessible for her children.
Toyota certainly has a way of providing people in the community with what they want and need, and the company does the same for its drivers with its new and used vehicle offerings. Stop by R & H Toyota today, located at 9801 Reisterstown Road Owings Mills, MD 21117, and take a look at our wonderful selection of Toyota vehicles. You might be surprised by what you find.
