Everyone loves the 2012 Toyota Prius family, and we mean everyone. So much, in fact, that the new 2012 Prius v outsold the Chevy Volt in its first ten weeks on the market.  The Prius v premiered in late October 2011 and managed to rack up sales numbers of 8,399 delivered units within six weeks, while the Volt only managed numbers of 7,671 units in the same time span.

The Toyota Prius v is off and running for the 2012 model year and is doing very well for itself. Toyota plans to deliver 220,000 Prius models to U.S. customers this year, which is a huge sixty percent increase over last year's numbers. The Prius family now includes several model variants, including the: original Prius, the Prius v wagon, the Prius Plug-In, and the Prius c subcompact (which will arrive in the U.S. in March 2012).The Prius family truly has something for everyone.

Before the final numbers for 2011 arrived, Toyota was criticized by the Chevrolet brand, which said the Volt was more successful in its first year of sales than the original Toyota Prius hybrid was its first year on the market in the year 2000. However, at that time, Toyota was really pioneering the hybrid market, so it makes sense that the brand wouldn't have seen as many sales twelve years ago, when the technology was brand new.

Remember, readers, the Prius c will arrive in March, but in the meantime, feel free to check out our current selection of Prius and Prius v vehicles. As always, R & H Toyota, located at 9801 Reisterstown Road Owings Mills, MD 21117, has you covered.
