The Toyota FT-Bh concept won't be officially unveiled until the 2012 Geneva Auto Show in March, but that isn't stopping the Japanese automaker from teasing the revolutionary new hybrid. Toyota has always led the auto industry in terms of hybrid models, and the new FT-Bh will assure that this trend will continue.Toyota has been very sly about this new concept car, only releasing photo "snippets" of small parts of the vehicle.
Funny thing is, Toyota insists the FT-Bh is merely a "study" car that will, most likely, never be produced. (We have seen some auto experts that assert the FT-Bh will be produced in some form, however). However, unlike most concept cars that are equipped with the best materials and technologies available, this new concept has been created using extremely thrifty and efficient methods. As Toyota explains, "From the outset, Toyota determined that the FT-Bh would be made using commonplace, economically viable production methods and technologies, including a down-sized full hybrid powertrain.1 This could mean it would be even more cost-efficient than the current Prius c. This new Toyota concept will produce up to 50 percent less carbon dioxide than most subcompact and B-segment cars. It's also focused on maximum fuel efficiency, but the exact numbers have yet to be announced. It weighs about 1,763 pounds and is much lighter than a 3-door Toyota Aygo minicompact (European model)- despite offering the space of a traditional five-door hatchback vehicle.
